What to Expect From Clubs Connect Newcastle

    Drinks in Ouseburn

    The event starts on Friday in Ouseburn, an area just off the river Tyne which once an industrial area but has been transformed into the city's cultural and creative quarter and one of the most vibrant creative suburbs in Newcastle., hosting a range of independent restaurants, breweries and artists.

    Community Project

    Saturday morning starts with a group breakfast at one of Newcastle’s many community owned and operated spaces, where Rotaractors will be able to support the venue’s independent grass-roots culture as part of a community project to help ensure these spaces can thrive.

    Newcastle Exploration

    For the Saturday afternoon the Rotaract club of Tyneside have planned a city-wide game, creating the opportunity for visits to the city to explore Newcastle as part of this team building activity with a competitive twist.

    Games Night

    Saturday night is games night as Clubs Connect will be heading to one of Newcastle’s newest venues, which offers a mix of retro fairground games, cocktails, and street food.

    Group Breakfast

    Come back together with others a local independent brunch spot, next to the train station, to start the Sunday.

    Tynemouth Market

    Tynemouth Market, which is hosted in the Victorian Metro station, is home to over 150 independent stalls selling art, crafts and other souvenirs perfect to remember your time in Newcastle.

Clubs Connect is all about people, shared experiences, and making a difference together. Over the weekend, you’ll have the chance to meet fellow Rotaractors, take part in team challenges, explore Newcastle with a local perspective, enjoy social moments and meals, and contribute to a hands-on community project. Whether you join organised activities, try something new, or simply soak up the city with your club, the weekend is designed to be flexible, welcoming, and full of opportunities to connect, collaborate, and create lasting memories.

    • Members take part in a variety of social activities and make use of the host location’s unique features, from cultural experiences to local excursions.

    • Activities are designed to encourage networking, fun, and shared experiences, allowing members to engage with the weekend in a way that suits their interests.

    • Each Clubs Connect include a “Hit Squad” community service project, leveraging the manpower of attendees to deliver high-impact support for the local community.

    • The service project are a core element, ensuring the programme maintains Rotaract’s focus on service.

    • Attendees can choose which activities they participate in, balancing social, local, and learning opportunities.

    • Key shared experiences, such as the group meal and the service project, create moments of cohesion and shared purpose without imposing a rigid schedule.

    • Informal programming reduces overheads, allowing ticket costs to be affordable for members, while Rotaract GBI can subsidise the host club to ensure the event remains a true Rotaract GBI programme.

    • Members arrange their own accommodation, allowing them to tailor the weekend to personal preferences and budgets.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This event is open to any Rotaractor.

  • Rotaractors are welcome to bring a plus one, including someone who is not a Rotaract member, but any plus ones must be attending with a named person with a MyRotary ID.

  • To find your MyRotary number you’ll need to go to my.rotary.org and sign in. From there select ‘show profile’ and your MyRotary ID number will be listed under your name and club. Please contact Rotaract GBI if you have a problem confirming this information.

  • Tickets start at £50 per person. However, a range of discount can be accessed.

  • All sales are final, and refunds are not available after payment is made.

  • Tickets are issued to the named individual, and any transfer or resale to another person requires approval from Rotaract GBI.

  • The starting ticket price covers Saturday’s breakfast, community project, city exploration and games night.

    Ticket price excludes travel, accommodation, lunch and the breakfast on Sunday.

  • Ideally during the afternoon on Friday and Sunday.

    We don’t have a formal start or end time to allow for great flexibility.

    Friday’s programme will start during the evening (~6PM) and Sunday will include a trip to the coast (until ~3PM).

  • No - this is a casual event. Please be mindful of weather conditions.

  • Please be careful about what you bring with you as looking after your valuables will be your own responsibility and are left at your own risk. We advise you not to bring any valuables with you.

    Rotaract Great Britain take no responsibility for the loss, damage or theft of personal possessions.

  • Rotaract Great Britain and Ireland will work with venues and seek to accommodate any dietary, accessibility, or medical requirements.
